Welcome to our Jewelcrafting guide for WoW The War Within expansion. In this guide, we’ll walk you through everything you need to know about leveling your Khaz Algar Jewelcrafting from 1 to 100.
Jewelcrafting is a primary World of Warcraft profession. It pairs well with Mining, as it allows you to gather your own materials, instead of spending gold to buy them from AH.
WoW TWW Jewelcrafting focuses on crafting useful gems like Culminating Blasphemite and creating jewelry items. These items are in high demand, making Jewelcrafting a good choice for making gold. Be sure to pay attention to the market for these items, as they can be profitable to craft and sell.
Leveling Jewelcrafting in The War Within isn’t as simple as previous expansions. After reaching skill 50, you’ll need to rely on special recipes, drops, use Profession Knowledge to unlock new recipes, and crafting orders to push your skill to 100.
As you progress, you’ll unlock special recipes and gain access to higher-quality items. After reaching skill level 50, however, leveling gets tougher. You’ll need to rely on rare drops, crafting orders, and spending Knowledge Points to unlock new gem cuts and jewelry recipes. It’s important to choose your specializations carefully because they determine which recipes and abilities you can unlock early on.
From this guide, you’ll learn the fastest and most efficient methods to level Khaz Algar Jewelcrafting, taking advantage of the First Craft Bonus for extra skill points and optimizing your crafting path to ensure a smooth leveling experience.

TWW Jewelcrafting Specs & Builds Overview
In WoW The War Within, Jewelcrafting offers three main specializations that let you focus on different parts of the profession: Gemcutting, Jewelrycrafting, and Shaping.
- Gemcutting: This specialization is all about creating high-quality gems. By investing Knowledge Points here, you unlock new gem recipes (there are 12 new gem recipes to learn in total) and increase your skill in crafting them. This path is ideal if you want to produce gems that other players use to enhance their gear.
- Jewelrycrafting: If you’re interested in making rings, amulets, and profession accessories, this is the specialization for you. Investing in Jewelrycrafting improves your ability to craft high-quality equipment. Keep in mind that many crafted gear items are Bind on Pickup, so you’ll need to use the crafting order system to make these items for other players.
- Shaping: This focuses on crafting better reagents and improving your prospecting skills. By specializing in Shaping, you can get more gems when prospecting ores, which is great if you gather your own materials.
Knowledge Points are crucial for specializing. You earn them by crafting items for the first time, completing crafting orders, and finding special treasures. Once you have Knowledge Points, you spend them to unlock and improve your specializations.
When choosing how to spend your Knowledge Points, it’s best to focus on one area first.
For example:
- If you choose Gemcutting, start by investing points to unlock and max out a specific gem type. This helps you craft that gem at the highest quality without relying on Concentration, a resource that limits how many top-quality items you can make each day.
- If you pick the Jewelrycrafting, decide whether you want to focus on rings, amulets, or accessories first. Invest points to improve your skill in that area, allowing you to craft better equipment.
Remember, while you can eventually learn everything, early on it’s important to specialize to maximize your efficiency. Plan your path based on what you enjoy crafting and what’s in demand among other players.
Jewelcrafting Profession Knowledge Explained
In The War Within, Profession Knowledge Points are a special currency, required for advancing your Jewelcrafting.
You earn Knowledge Points by completing NPC crafting orders, discovering hidden treasures, and using the “First Craft” bonus, which gives extra points when crafting something for the first time. These points are then spent in your Jewelcrafting Specialization Tree to unlock new abilities, recipes, and improve your crafting skills.
Spend Knowledge Points wisely, as changes are permanent. Once used, they can’t be refunded.

55-80: Gemcutting (Optional)
If you’ve chosen Gemcutting as your first specialization, now is the time to craft gems and sell them on the Auction House. This is a great way to make gold and level up your Jewelcrafting to 80.
- Craft high-quality gems, such as Emeralds, Rubies, or Onyxes, depending on your specialization. These recipes turn yellow at level 70, green at level 75, and gray at level 80.
If you haven’t specialized in Gemcutting, skip this section and move to the next step. 3 methods from the section below can help you level TWW Jewelcrafting not only from 80 to 100 but also from 55 to 80.
TWW Jewelcrafting Leveling 80-100
Leveling Jewelcrafting after 80 requires much more effort, time and resources.
Below are the general tips:
- Use Trade Chat: Advertise your services to find personal crafting orders, especially for epic gear. Many players seek Rank 5 items and will provide their own materials.
- Complete NPC Orders: NPC crafting orders can help you fill the gaps when player orders are scarce. These randomly generated orders can still help you earn skill points.
- Auction House: Keep an eye on the Auction House for affordable materials or recipe drops like Blasphemite to speed up your progress.
Crafting Blasphemite Gems (Best Option)
The fastest way to level from 80 to 100 is crafting Blasphemite gems. Each recipe provides 3 skill points and can be crafted up to level 100. However, the recipes for these gems are random dungeon drops, so you may need to purchase them from the Auction House.
Blasphemite Recipes:
- Culminating Blasphemite
- 15x Blasphemite
- 360x Crushed Gemstones
- 15x Engraved Gemcutter
- Elusive Blasphemite
- Same materials as Culminating Blasphemite
- Insightful Blasphemite
- Same materials as Culminating Blasphemite
If you’re going for Quality 2 Blasphemite gems, you may sell them for a higher profit on the Auction House, though they can be harder to craft without proper specialization.
Completing Crafting Orders
Another great option for leveling from 80 to 100 is completing Crafting Orders for epic necks, rings, and profession equipment. These items give between 2 and 3 skill points per craft.
Epic Necks and Rings (Requires Spark of Omens):
- Amulet of Earthen Craftsmanship (Jewelrycrafting specialization)
- Ring of Earthen Craftsmanship (Jewelrycrafting specialization)
- Fractured Gemstone Locket (Drop from Delves)
- Binding of Binding (Weekly Event: Theater Troupe’s Trove)
Profession Equipment (Uses Artisan’s Acuity):
- Enchanter’s Crystal – Enchanting
- Novelist’s Specs – Inscription
- Forger’s Font Inspector – Inscription
- Extravagant Loupes – Jewelcrafting
These recipes provide a steady way to gain skill points, but they often rely on the availability of crafting orders from other players. You will need to advertise your services in trade channels to find customers, especially on low-population realms.
Leveling With PvP Gems (Optional)
If you prefer PvP content, you can also level by crafting PvP gems. These recipes require Vicious Bloodstone, which is not BoP, and can be purchased from the Auction House or Hotharn in Dornogal for 2500 Honor. PvP gems grant 2 skill points until level 80, and then turn green from 90 to 100.
Craft the following PvP Gems:
This leveling method is slower than others but useful for PvPers.
