Vesper’s Host Loot Guide

Vesper’s Host is a new dungeon introduced with the Destiny 2: Revenant episode. Release date: October 11, 2024. This instance takes Guardians back to Europa, revisiting a location familiar to players who’ve explored the Deep Stone Crypt.

D2 Vesper’s Host has 3 encounters that offer firetams that manage to complete them plenty of chances to earn high-tier loot, including unique weapons and armor sets.

We’ll overview all rewards that you can get from the Vesper’s Host dungeon: weapons (including the Ice Breaker Exotic sniper rifle), armor sets, and various collectibles. We’ll also share our point of view on which weapons are worth farming, and which are not.

Vesper’s Host Loot Table

The Vesper’s Host dungeon also features an exclusive Sparrow, two unique emblems, and a Catalyst for the Ice Breaker. The loot includes high-stat Legendary weapons with actually pretty good perks (that allow some weapons to be considered meta in its categories), alongside the Spacewalk Armor set. Below is a brief overview of all VH D2 dungeon encounters.

How to Farm Vesper’s Host for Loot

Vesper’s Host is the newest dungeon in Destiny 2 and is not part of the Featured dungeon rotation, so you can only farm its Exotic once per character each week. However, you can farm its Legendary weapons and armor without limits.

Here’s how to farm the VH dungeon:

1. Play through the dungeon on your first character until you reach the encounter you want to farm.
2. Start the encounter and wipe (die without finishing it).
3. Switch to another character that hasn’t run the dungeon and rejoin your Fireteam.
4. Wipe again to save the checkpoint on your second character.

To continue farming Vesper’s Host:

1. Launch the dungeon with your second character holding the checkpoint.
2. Switch back to your first character, rejoin, and complete the encounter.
3. Repeat the process as needed for unlimited loot.

First Encounter: Vesper Station

In the first encounter, you’ll use Scanner and Operator augments to activate panels and deposit nuclear cores. This involves clearing enemies, finding the correct panels, and handling mechanics similar to those seen in the Deep Stone Crypt raid.

• VS Chill Inhibitor (Stasis Grenade Launcher)
• VS Gravitic Arrest (Void Fusion Rifle)
• Spacewalk Armor (Class Item)

Second Encounter: Raneiks Unified

In this encounter, you’ll face Raneiks Unified, a massive servitor that splits into multiple smaller servitors. Your team must use the Suppressor augment to break the servitor apart, identify marked servitors, and then shoot specific panels to start the damage phase.

Rewards:

• VS Velocity Baton (Void Grenade Launcher)
• VS Pyroelectric Propellant (Arc Auto Rifle)
• Spacewalk Armor (Helm, Arms)

Final Encounter: Corrupted Puppeteer (Atraks-1)

The final encounter pits you against Atraks-1, now the Corrupted Puppeteer. You’ll need to manage all three augments—Scanner, Operator, and Suppressor—while dealing with Atraks’ clones. This encounter involves activating panels, avoiding Radiation debuffs, and using nuclear cores to remove the boss’s shield before a damage phase.

• Spacewalk Armor (Chest, Legs)

As we mentioned above, throughout the VH dungeon, you can get new Legendary weapons, the Spacewalk armor set, and the rare Exotic Ice Breaker sniper rifle. While most rewards drop consistently from their encounters, the Ice Breaker is a rare drop from the final boss.

Vesper’s Host Weapons

The Vesper’s Host dungeon in Destiny 2 features four powerful Legendary weapons and one returning Exotic, each offering unique perks and elemental damage types.

Exotic Traits:	No Backpack: Final blows or assists with any other weapon or ability have a chance to create ammo for Ice Breaker. Defeating powerful combatants will create multiple rounds. Ice Breaker: Defeating a target with this weapon causes them to explode. Precision final blows or shattering a frozen target instead triggers an ignition.
Is Ice Breaker worth farming?	Ice Breaker’s ability to generate ammo without relying on drops is unique, giving it a strong PvP presence, especially for players who can chain kills. It’s less powerful in PvE but still useful for sustained sniping.
How to Get it?	Ice Breaker is a random drop from the final boss in the Vesper’s Host dungeon. Requires The Final Shape Dungeon Key.

VS Chill Inhibitor Grenade Launcher

Is VS Chill Inhibitor Worth Farming?	This grenade launcher shines in PvE because of its high fire rate and ability to deal solid Stasis damage. It can easily clear groups of enemies and deal heavy damage to bosses, especially with perks like Bait and Switch and Chain Reaction. It’s not as strong in PvP, but can still be useful in some situations.
How to Get it?	It drops from the first and second encounters in the Vesper’s Host dungeon.

• Bait and Switch: Gives a big damage boost after switching between weapons, perfect for short burst damage phases.

PvP Perks Explanation:

• Quick Launch: Helps with faster handling and aiming.
  High-Velocity Rounds: Makes your grenades travel faster, improving accuracy.
• Danger Zone: Increases explosion size when enemies are close, helping with crowd control.
• Chain Reaction: Causes explosions on kills, useful for taking down multiple enemies at once.

VS Chill Inhibitor works best in PvE, where its fast fire rate and explosive perks can deal big damage. It’s not as strong in PvP, but it can still be fun when used in the right situations.

Is VS Gravitic Arrest worth farming?	VS Gravitic Arrest is an A-tier weapon both for PvE and PvP because of its excellent handling, strong Void-based perk combinations, and good DPS/TTK. With perks like Repulsor Brace and Withering Gaze in PvE and Under Pressure and Closing Time in PvP, it fits well into many loadouts.
How to Get it?	It drops from all encounters in the Vesper’s Host dungeon.

PvP Perks Explanation:

VS Gravitic Arrest is a versatile and powerful option for both PvE and PvP, with great damage potential and strong perks that enhance Void synergy.

Is VS Velocity Baton worth farming?	VS Velocity Baton is a new area denial grenade launcher, following in the footsteps of Lost Signal, which didn’t get much attention. However, VS Velocity Baton seems like it has more potential. In PvE, it offers some interesting perk combinations, and while it might not be a top-tier pick, it has room to perform well in certain setups. Talking about PvP, Area denial grenade launchers aren’t very popular, but VS Velocity Baton has a few perks that could be useful. That said, if you’re looking for a strong option in PvP, Witherhoard is a better choice. Overall, VS Velocity Baton ranks B-Tier in PvE and C-Tier in PvP.

• Quick Launch: Increases handling and projectile speed, making it faster to use.

• Demolitionist/Unrelenting: Demolitionist helps regenerate grenades, while Unrelenting offers health regeneration, making it effective for long PvE encounters.
• Attrition Orbs/Destabilizing Rounds: Attrition Orbs generates orbs on hits, and Destabilizing Rounds causes Void explosions, perfect for crowd control.

PvP Perks Explanation:

• Quick Launch: Maximizes speed for quick engagements.
• High-Velocity Rounds: Enhances velocity, increasing accuracy for landing hits.
• Slickdraw: Reduces aim assist but speeds up handling, allowing for faster reaction times in PvP.
• Harmony: Boosts damage after a kill with another weapon, making it easier to chain eliminations.

VS Velocity Baton is best used in PvE for crowd control and support, but with careful handling, it can be a niche pick in PvP.

Is VS Pyroelectric Propellant worth farming?	It’s been a while since we’ve seen an Adaptive Arc Auto Rifle (the last one was in Season 15). Recently, we’ve mostly had Solar and Void rifles with subclass perks like Incandescent or Repulsor Brace, which make them stand out. Thankfully, VS Pyro brings its own set of Arc perks, such as Eddy Current and Jolting Feedback, along with solid neutral perks like Rewind Rounds and Onslaught. Its Origin Trait also boosts ability energy from weapon hits, which can add even more value, similar to the Bray Inheritance trait from Deep Stone Crypt. In PvP, Auto Rifles have seen ups and downs, with Precision Frames being the most popular lately for their high crit damage. While Adaptives recently saw a small nerf to crit damage, it won’t affect their time-to-kill much unless you’re dealing with range drop-off. However, VS Pyro’s perks should make it a strong choice among other Auto Rifles.

PvP God Roll Explanation:

• Smallbore/Arrowhead Break: Enhances range and stability or improves recoil control.
• Ricochet Rounds: Boosts range and stability for better accuracy.
• To the Pain/Fragile Focus: Increases handling and range during duels or when above critical health.
• Closing Time/Kill Clip: Closing Time improves range and aim as mag empties, while Kill Clip boosts damage after a kill.

These combinations make the VS Pyroelectric Propellant an effective weapon in PvE and PvP, offering strong synergy with Arc builds and consistent damage output.
