Is Desert Perpetual Farmable?

How to Farm

icon Here’s a simple step-by-step guide to farming the DP raid:

  1. Run the Raid on Your Main Character
    • Progress until you reach the encounter you want to farm (e.g., first boss, second encounter, etc.).
    • Do NOT complete it yet.
  2. Wipe to Save the Checkpoint
    • Start the encounter and intentionally wipe (die).
    • Have your Fireteam stay in the raid.
  3. Switch to an Alt Character
    • Log out and switch to a character that has NOT run the raid this week.
    • Rejoin your Fireteam (they should still be in the wiped encounter).
  4. Wipe Again to Lock the Checkpoint
    • Now, your alt character holds the checkpoint.
  5. Farm the Encounter
    • Launch the raid on your alt character (the checkpoint holder).
    • Switch back to your main character and rejoin.
    • Complete the encounter for loot.
    • Repeat: Exit the raid, relaunch on your alt, and repeat the process.

icon How to Maximize Exotic Drop Chances:

  • The Raid Exotic can only drop once per class per week.
  • If you have 3 characters (Titan, Hunter, Warlock), you can run the raid 3 times weekly for a chance at the Exotic.
  • Farmable Exotic? No—only the first clear per class per week grants a chance.

Tips for Efficient Farming:

  • Focus on High-Value Encounters: Some encounters drop specific weapons/armor—target the ones you need.
  • Master Difficulty: If available, Master drops enhanced perks and Artifice Armor.
  • Use LFG or Clan Groups: Coordinate checkpoint sharing for faster farming.

icon Resetting the Farm:

  • Weekly Reset (Tuesdays): All progress resets, allowing you to farm the Exotic again.
  • Legendary Farming: Can be done anytime as long as you have the checkpoint.

By following this method, you can infinitely farm Legendary loot while optimizing your weekly Exotic chances.

The Desert Perpetual Weapons

The Desert Perpertual Weapons

The Desert Perpetual raid in Destiny 2 lets you earn one Exotic weapon called Whirling Ovation, along with 6 different Legendary weapons, each with unique perks and elemental types.

Below is a list of the weapons available in the DP raid:

Whirling Ovation Strand Rocket Launcher

Whirling Ovation

Weapon Name: Whirling Ovation
Weapon Type: Rocket Launcher Rocket Launcher
Tier Rank: Tier-S S (PvE), Tier-A A (PvP)
Slot: Strand Strand
Ammo: Heavy Heavy
Archetype: Exotic
Perks:
  • Barrel: Hard Launch
  • Battery: Liquid Coils
  • Stock: Composite Stock
Exotic Trait:
  • Coronal Culmination: [Shoot] : Hold to charge; release to fire. Charged projectiles have a delayed Solar payload.
  • Anticipation: The charge speed of this weapon’s next shot slowly increases over time. Anticipation builds more quickly as you deal more damage with other weapons.
Is this weapon worth farming?
  • High burst damage: Charged shots deal significantly more damage than standard rockets (e.g., ~6,324 vs. Gjallarhorn’s 1,732).
  • PvE utility: Strong against bosses and majors, but slow charge time requires build synergy (e.g., Solar/Strand subclasses).
  • PvP limitations: Low handling and charge time make it niche in Crucible.
How to Get it?
  • Source: Drops exclusively from the final boss (Koregos the Worldline) in the Desert Perpetual raid.
  • Drop Mechanics:
    • Random chance: Base drop rate is estimated at ~3% per weekly clear per character.
    • Triumph boosts: Completing raid triumphs (e.g., Death-Defiant, Brutal Efficiency) increases drop chances.

The Collective Psyche armor sets from The Desert Perpetual raid are a striking fusion of Vex precision and Nine-inspired mysticism, blending angular, time-worn textures with ethereal glow effects. These sets not only excel in aesthetics—perfect for Strand and Solar fashion builds—but also introduce gameplay-enhancing set bonuses, a first for Destiny 2 raid armor. The 2-piece bonus (Accretion) streamlines combat flow with faster weapon swaps, while the 4-piece bonus (Doppler Effect) amplifies key subclass verbs like Suspend and Radiant, making them meta-defining for endgame builds.

Compared to past raid sets like Vow of the Disciple’s or Last Wish’s gear, the Collective Psyche armor stands out for its versatility and synergy with modern subclass 3.0 kits. The high-stat rolls (especially from Master-tier clears) and tiered upgrade system via raid Feats further elevate their utility. For players chasing both power and prestige, these sets are a must-farm—offering the rare trifecta of unique visuals, buildcrafting depth, and raid-exclusive bragging rights.
