Best CS2 Knife Tier List 2026

Let’s be real – your knife is the ultimate flex in Counter-Strike 2. The rest of your loadout? People barely notice. But your knife? You see it every time you swap weapons. Other players see it when you inspect. It’s the one piece of gear that actually says something about you.

icon And with 19 different knife types, hundreds of finish combinations, and rare patterns that can make or break a price, picking the right one isn’t a quick decision. This guide is here to help:

Best CS2 Knives 2026 — Quick Picks

Best CS2 knives 2026 quick picks – Butterfly Knife (best overall), Karambit (classic), Stiletto Knife (best animations for price), Talon Knife (best Karambit alternative), Nomad Knife (best mid-budget), Navaja Knife (cheapest) – Counter-Strike 2

Don’t have time to read everything? Here are the highlights:

  • Best overall CS2 knife: Butterfly Knife – undisputed king. Best animations, the most varied inspect sequence, you can spin it endlessly and it never gets old. Vanilla alone starts at $1,260+, so yeah, it’s an investment.
  • Best classic pick: Karambit – the most recognizable knife shape in CS2. Hooked blade, signature inspect, status symbol since 2013. Vanilla around $1,070. That said, it’s a bit overrated right now (more on that below).
  • Best animations for the money: Stiletto Knife – Butterfly obviously has the best overall animations, but Stiletto gets you closest for a fraction of the price. Switchblade flick is smooth and mechanical, and you can spam/loop the inspect just like with Butterfly. Vanilla around 224−332 – way cheaper entry than Butterfly.
  • Best Karambit alternative: Talon Knife – noticeably cheaper than Karambit (Vanilla around 310 vs 1,070), so at the same budget you can afford a much better finish (e.g. Karambit Vanilla money gets you a Talon Doppler in a top phase). Plus the inspect actually spins endlessly, unlike the currently-nerfed Karambit.
  • Best mid-budget pick: Nomad Knife – excellent draw animation, satisfying click on unfold, stylish handle on almost every finish. Vanilla around 230350.
  • Best cheap CS2 knife: Navaja Knife Rust Coat Battle-Scarred – the absolute cheapest on the market at around 42. For a clean “Vanilla” look, Navaja Vanilla 44-$60) is your cheapest option.
  • Best entry-level folding knife: Flip Knife – same satisfying open-click as Stiletto, but Vanilla price is similar (~$260). The real value is going cheaper finishes here.
  • Best Doppler canvas (mass market): Butterfly Knife Doppler Ruby – the most expensive Doppler in the popular knife tier. Ruby/Sapphire/BP Karambits are rarer, but Butterfly Ruby has a bigger fanbase.
  • Best for collectors / flex: Karambit Case Hardened Blue Gem (Pattern 387) – the holy grail. $1M+ for the best patterns.
  • Most expensive CS2 knife in 2026: Karambit Case Hardened Blue Gem Pattern 387 (Factory New, 4-sided full Blue Gem) – listings have crossed seven figures.
  • Best knife for trade-ups: Operation Bravo / CS:GO Weapon Case 3 Covert trade-ups – cheap inputs, OG knife outputs.

Full breakdown below.

How CS2 Knives Work

CS2 knives explained – drop rates 0.26 percent for gold, StatTrak chance 10 percent, float wear values from 0 to 1, pattern index, Vanilla vs finishes – Counter-Strike 2

icon Every CS2 knife is a Rare Special Item (Gold rarity). Drop chance from any standard weapon case is 0.26% – roughly 1 in 385 cases. There’s also a flat 10% chance for the drop to be StatTrak, which means a StatTrak knife is about 0.026% (1 in 3,850).

icon Beyond drop rates, four things define every knife:

  1. Model – the shape (Karambit, Butterfly, Bayonet, etc.). There are 19 different models in CS2 right now.
  2. Finish – the visual pattern on the blade and handle (Fade, Slaughter, Doppler, Crimson Web, etc.). Different cases drop different finish sets.
  3. Float (wear value) – a number from 0 to 1 that determines visible wear. Lower float = less scratches = higher price. Tiers: Factory New (0–0.07), Minimal Wear (0.07–0.15), Field-Tested (0.15–0.38), Well-Worn (0.38–0.45), Battle-Scarred (0.45–1.00).
  4. Pattern index – a random number from 1 to 999 that controls how the pattern sits on the blade. For some finishes (Case Hardened, Fade, Marble Fade, Doppler), pattern is everything – it can multiply a knife’s value 10x or even 100x.

About Vanilla (★) knives – these have no finish, just the bare blade and handle. Counter to what you might think, Vanilla is NOT the cheapest version of a knife. It usually sits in the middle of the price range. Budget camouflage finishes (Safari Mesh, Scorched, Rust Coat, Forest DDPAT, Boreal Forest) in Battle-Scarred condition are cheaper. Vanilla commands a premium because collectors specifically want that clean, minimalist look. For example, a Karambit Safari Mesh runs around 574 1,070+ – almost double.

⚠️ A note on CS2 knife prices: All prices in this guide are approximate lowest-listing prices as of May 2026. The market is volatile – premium knives can swing 5-15% within a single week. For instance, a Butterfly Marble Fade FN traded at 1,480 on May 9 1,345-$1,395 by May 17. Always check current prices on Steam Market, CSFloat, or Skinport before making a serious purchase.

CS2 Knife Tier List 2026

CS2 knife tier list 2026 – S Tier Butterfly Knife, Karambit, M9 Bayonet, Stiletto Knife, Talon Knife – A Tier Flip Knife, Nomad Knife, Skeleton Knife – B Tier Classic Knife, Bayonet, Kukri Knife – C Tier Huntsman Knife, Gut Knife, Paracord Knife, Survival Knife, Ursus Knife, Bowie Knife – D Tier Shadow Daggers, Navaja Knife, Falchion Knife – Counter-Strike 2

icon Here’s our ranking for 2026, based on community demand, animation quality, price stability, and overall flex factor.

Tier-S  Tier (Top Flex): Butterfly Knife, Karambit, M9 Bayonet, Stiletto Knife, Talon Knife

Tier-A  Tier (Strong Picks): Flip Knife, Nomad Knife, Skeleton Knife

Tier-B  Tier (Solid Choices): Classic Knife, Bayonet, Kukri Knife

Tier-C  Tier (Decent but Niche): Huntsman Knife, Gut Knife, Paracord Knife, Survival Knife, Ursus Knife, Bowie Knife

Tier-D  Tier (Underrated or Unloved): Shadow Daggers, Navaja Knife, Falchion Knife

All five Tier-S Tier knives share three traits: strong inspect or draw animations, instantly recognizable silhouettes, and steady market demand year after year. Butterfly and Karambit have been at the top since 2013 – they’re the historical kings. M9 Bayonet earns its spot through pure classic silhouette and market depth (second only to Karambit in OG knife liquidity). Stiletto secured its place with that satisfying switchblade snap-out. Talon is the newest Tier-S Tier addition – it climbed up thanks to a smooth, spammable inspect (something Karambit actually used to have before its inspect got nerfed).

The Tier-A Tier mix is interesting. Flip Knife is here because it’s the smartest value play in folding knives – same snap-out feel as Stiletto, but cheaper, so you can afford a much better finish at the same budget. Nomad is there because of the excellent draw animation and how good the handle looks on almost every finish. And Skeleton – well, it has one of the best inspect animations in the game, but the draw is mediocre 4 out of 5 times. Only the rare twirl-draw (about 1 in 5) makes it feel like the premium knife it’s priced as.

Tier-D  Tier doesn’t mean bad. Shadow Daggers are unique because they’re dual-wielded. Falchion gets stuck here because its market is small and the shape isn’t as desirable. Navaja is just too small to be impressive.

All CS2 Knife Types – Full Breakdown

All 19 CS2 knife types grouped by era – OG 5 Karambit, M9 Bayonet, Bayonet, Flip Knife, Gut Knife – Operation Era Butterfly Knife, Bowie Knife, Falchion Knife, Huntsman Knife, Shadow Daggers – Modern Era Stiletto Knife, Talon Knife, Ursus Knife, Navaja Knife, Classic Knife – Shattered Web Era Skeleton Knife, Nomad Knife, Paracord Knife, Survival Knife – CS2 Era Kukri Knife – Counter-Strike 2

icon Here are all 19 knife types grouped by era, with everything you need: top finishes, price ranges, animation rating, which cases drop them, pros and cons.

The OG 5 Knives (Original 2013)

These five launched with The Arms Deal Collection in August 2013. They appear in the original CS:GO Weapon Case, CS:GO Weapon Case 2, CS:GO Weapon Case 3, Operation Bravo, Operation Phoenix, Operation Vanguard, eSports 2013, eSports 2013 Winter, eSports 2014 Summer, plus Chroma cases (1/2/3) for newer finishes.

Karambit (from ~560 SafariMesh, 2,100+ Fade FN)

The hooked blade. The most recognizable knife shape in Counter-Strike. Originally inspired by a Southeast Asian agricultural tool, the Karambit became a status symbol in CS:GO and never lost that crown.

But honestly? It’s a bit overrated right now. Karambits sit only 10-15% below Butterfly Knives on price, yet the inspect animation in current CS2 is broken – you can’t spin it nonstop in your hand like you can with the Talon Knife. So if you’re paying near-Butterfly money, the value just isn’t there for what you actually get in-hand.

  • Vanilla price: ~1,0601,280
  • Top finishes: Fade FN (2,100+,1003,000-4,000), 1M+ for top patterns like 387), Crimson Web (555+BS, 6,560 FN regular, 33K50K StatTrak FN with top patterns), Doppler Phase 2/Ruby/Sapphire/Black Pearl (8K12K BP, 710K Ruby/Sapphire, 78K Phase 2), Marble Fade (2,5005,000), Slaughter (1,5002,500), Tiger Tooth (1,5002,500)
  • Animation rating: Tier-A Tier (historically Tier-S , currently nerfed but still strong)
  • Cases: CS:GO Weapon Case 1/2/3, Operation Bravo, Operation Phoenix, Operation Vanguard, eSports 2013/Winter/2014 Summer, Chroma 1/2/3
  • Best for: Status, classic flex, long-term holds (not for inspect-spammers right now)
  • Pros: Most recognizable knife in CS2, strong market liquidity, top resale value, the OG flex
  • Cons: Inspect animation is currently broken/nerfed, priced too close to Butterfly without offering Butterfly-tier animation, often counterfeited in scams

M9 Bayonet (from ~447 Safari Mesh, 1,000+ Doppler FN)

The military-style M9 has a longer, straighter blade than the regular Bayonet. One of the cornerstone OG knives and an Tier-S Tier pick overall. Beautiful model, clean draw, and name tags look especially good on the M9 handle – the flat tactical surface makes engraved text really pop. Market depth is second only to Karambit, making it the safest non-Butterfly long-term hold.

The one weakness? The inspect animation is boring compared to other Tier-S Tier knives. Nothing to spin or flick. The blade just sits there.

  • Vanilla price: ~780955
  • Top finishes: Doppler FN (1,0001,500 regular phases, 6,00010,000 Sapphire/Ruby/BP), Crimson Web FN (1,2002,000), Fade (1,500+), 900-1,200), 430-580), 700-900), 800-$1,300)
  • Animation rating: Tier-B Tier (clean draw, plain inspect – but Tier-S Tier overall thanks to silhouette and market dominance)
  • Cases: Same as Karambit
  • Best for: Doppler collectors, military aesthetic, players who want a recognizable OG knife without overpaying for Butterfly
  • Pros: Wide blade is a perfect Doppler canvas, beautiful model, name tags look fantastic on the handle, second-deepest market after Karambit
  • Cons: Inspect is dull (no spin, no flick, just a static rotation), bigger model feels bulkier than Karambit

Bayonet (from ~800+ Fade FN)

The original Bayonet has a slimmer profile than the M9 – a more historical military bayonet shape. Often confused with M9 by newcomers, but distinctly different.

  • Vanilla price: ~250500
  • Top finishes: Fade (8001,200), Doppler Phase 2/Ruby/Sapphire (6002,000+), Crimson Web (8001,500), Marble Fade (500800), Case Hardened (400700, premium Blue Gem patterns much higher), Tiger Tooth (400600), Slaughter (400600)
  • Animation rating: Tier-B Tier (solid but unremarkable)
  • Cases: Same as Karambit and M9
  • Best for: Classic OG flex on a budget, historical military aesthetic
  • Pros: Cheapest OG knife after Flip and Gut, OG prestige, recognizable shape
  • Cons: Animation isn’t flashy, often called “M9‘s smaller brother”, lower demand than M9 in same finishes

Flip Knife (from ~500+ Fade FN)

The Flip Knife is an assisted-open folding blade – and the smartest budget pick among folding knives ( Tier-A Tier overall). It has a satisfying snap-out click on draw, similar in feel to Stiletto. The inspect itself is fairly boring – no spin or flick after the initial flip-out.

But here’s the value play: Flip is significantly cheaper than Stiletto and way cheaper than Butterfly, so you can afford a much better finish (Fade, Marble Fade, Doppler) for the same budget as a base Vanilla Stiletto. That’s exactly the kind of value math that bumps Flip a tier above Classic and Kukri.

  • Vanilla price: ~260340
  • Top finishes: Fade (500800), Doppler (6001,000 regular phases, top phases much higher), Crimson Web (500800), Marble Fade (400600), Case Hardened (350500), Tiger Tooth (350500), Slaughter (300450), Stained (~$113+ FT for budget pickup)
  • Animation rating: Tier-B Tier (clean draw click, boring inspect – Tier-A Tier overall thanks to value, not animation depth)
  • Cases: Same as Karambit/M9/Bayonet
  • Best for: Players who love folding knives but want premium finishes at a moderate budget
  • Pros: Cheap entry compared to Stiletto and Butterfly, satisfying snap on draw, opens up premium finish options that would be unaffordable on more expensive shapes
  • Cons: Inspect is plain after the initial flip, less prestige than Stiletto/Butterfly

Gut Knife (from ~250+ Fade FN)

The Gut Knife is the cheapest OG knife in CS2. The blade has a distinctive curved gut hook (originally designed for field dressing). The draw animation is fun – you get to feel like you own a real CS knife – but the inspect is bland.

That said, Gut is one of the best first knives for someone just entering the collector world. Cheap enough to not break the bank, OG enough to give you that “I own a real CS knife” feeling.

  • Vanilla price: ~90120
  • Top finishes: Fade (250400), Doppler (200500 regular, top phases higher), Crimson Web (300500), Marble Fade (200350), Case Hardened (150300), Tiger Tooth (180280), Slaughter (150250), Bright Water (6195 entry)
  • Animation rating: Tier-C Tier (fun draw, boring inspect)
  • Cases: Same as OG 5
  • Best for: First knife buyers, budget OG collectors, players who want OG prestige without the Karambit/M9 cost
  • Pros: Affordable Vanilla (~90120), OG prestige at a fraction of Karambit price, good entry point
  • Cons: Curved-hook design is divisive, boring inspect, lowest demand of OG 5

The Operation Era (2014-2016)

Five knife shapes added through Operation cases and the Chroma series.

Butterfly Knife (from ~3,000+ Fade FN)

The best knife in CS2. End of debate, basically. The balisong flip is unmatched. There are more inspect variations than on any other knife. And the best part? You don’t get tired of it. Other premium knives like Karambit and M9 start feeling repetitive after a few hundred matches. Butterfly doesn’t. You can keep spinning, flipping, and looping the inspect indefinitely and it still feels fresh. Community has been calling it #1 since 2014, and that’s not changing.

  • Vanilla price: ~1,2601,310 (yes, even Vanilla alone breaks $1,200)
  • Top finishes: Fade FN (3,0005,000), Doppler Phase 1/2/Ruby/Sapphire/BP (2,00010,000+ depending on phase), Crimson Web (585620 BS, 16K+ top pattern, 19K+ StatTrak FN), 1,345-1,800-2,500 with premium Fire & Ice patterns), Case Hardened Blue Gem (30K-100K+fortoppatterns), 1,800-2,500), 1,500-$2,200)
  • Animation rating: Tier-S Tier (best inspect in CS2 – multiple variations, endless loop, never gets old)
  • Cases: Operation Breakout (classic finishes), Chroma 1/2/3, Operation Wildfire, Revolver, Gamma 1/2 (newer finishes)
  • Best for: Animation enjoyers, top-tier flex, players who inspect-spam constantly, anyone who wants a knife that won’t get old
  • Pros: Best animation in CS2, doesn’t get repetitive, instantly recognizable silhouette, strong demand at every finish level
  • Cons: Most expensive knife shape – even Vanilla starts at $1,260+

Bowie Knife (from ~250+ Fade FN)

A heavy, flat-bladed hunting knife. Introduced in Operation Wildfire. The blade is wider than most, giving finishes a big canvas to work with.

  • Vanilla price: ~130200
  • Top finishes: Fade (250400), Doppler (150400 regular phases), Crimson Web (200350), Marble Fade (180300), Case Hardened (120250), Tiger Tooth (150250), Slaughter (120200), Scorched ($59+ BS entry)
  • Animation rating: Tier-C Tier (slow, heavy inspect – not snappy)
  • Cases: Operation Wildfire (only original source)
  • Best for: Budget collectors who want something different from OG 5, hunting-knife aesthetic fans
  • Pros: Cheap Vanilla, big blade canvas, Operation prestige
  • Cons: Divisive shape, sluggish animation, lower demand than other operation knives

Falchion Knife (from ~250+ Fade FN)

A slightly curved single-edge blade. The first knife introduced in an Operation case (Falchion, May 2015) without the word “Operation” in the name.

  • Vanilla price: ~118152
  • Top finishes: Fade (250450), Doppler (150500 regular phases), Crimson Web (250400), Marble Fade (180300), Case Hardened (150300), Tiger Tooth (150280), Slaughter (130220), Scorched ($66+ entry)
  • Animation rating: Tier-B Tier (clean and quick, has a karambit-esque side spin that’s pleasant)
  • Cases: Falchion Case (classic finishes), Chroma 3, Operation Wildfire, Revolver, Gamma 1/2, Dreams & Nightmares (Gamma Doppler)
  • Best for: Budget pickup with style, players who like curved blade silhouettes
  • Pros: Cheap Vanilla, available in active drop pool through Dreams & Nightmares, decent animation
  • Cons: Smaller market than Karambit/M9, finishes look cramped on the narrow blade

Huntsman Knife (from ~250+ Fade FN)

A tanto-style blade with a flat top edge. Introduced in May 2014. The draw animation is decent – similar to Gut, you get that “I own a real knife” satisfaction – but the inspect is boring. Like Gut, Huntsman is a solid first knife pick if you’re entering the collector world on a budget.

  • Vanilla price: ~110160
  • Top finishes: Fade (250450), Doppler (180500 regular phases), Crimson Web (250400), Marble Fade (200350), Case Hardened (150300), Tiger Tooth (150280), Slaughter (150250), Scorched ($70+ entry)
  • Animation rating: Tier-C Tier (decent draw, boring inspect)
  • Cases: Huntsman Weapon Case (only original source), Revolver, Gamma 1/2, Chroma 3
  • Best for: First knife buyers, tanto-blade fans, budget pickups, Operation collectors
  • Pros: Cheap Vanilla, distinctive tanto profile, good first knife
  • Cons: Single-knife pool in Huntsman case, inspect lacks personality

Shadow Daggers (from ~150+ Fade FN)

The only dual-wield knife in CS2. You hold one in each hand. Divisive – collectors either love or hate the twin-blade look.

  • Vanilla price: ~5580 (among the cheapest Vanillas in CS2)
  • Top finishes: Fade (150300), Doppler (120400 regular phases), Crimson Web (150300), Marble Fade (100200), Case Hardened (80180), Tiger Tooth (100200), Slaughter (80150), Freehand ($55+ BS cheapest entry)
  • Animation rating: Tier-C Tier (unique because of dual-blade, but inspect feels less premium)
  • Cases: Shadow Case (only original source)
  • Best for: Players who want something different, dual-wield aesthetic fans, lowest-budget knife flex
  • Pros: Cheapest mid-tier Vanilla, totally unique dual-blade design, conversation piece
  • Cons: Polarizing design hurts resale, lower demand than any single-blade knife, single-case pool

The Modern Era (2017-2019)

Four new knife shapes added through Spectrum / Operation Hydra / CS20 cases.

Stiletto Knife (from ~700+ Fade FN)

The Stiletto is a switchblade – snaps out with a satisfying mechanical click on draw. Introduced in the Spectrum Case (March 2017). Basically the budget Butterfly. The vibe is very similar: same folding/snap-out mechanic, same “you can keep playing with it” energy. Sure, Butterfly is more refined (and the price reflects that), but Stiletto delivers a similar feel for a fraction of the cost. The inspect animation is loopable and spammable – exactly the kind of animation that doesn’t get old.

  • Vanilla price: ~224332
  • Top finishes: Fade (7001,200), Doppler (7001,000 regular phases, premium higher), Crimson Web (7001,200), Marble Fade (8001,200), Case Hardened (500900), Tiger Tooth (600900), Slaughter (500800), Forest DDPAT ($180+ entry)
  • Animation rating: Tier-S Tier (switchblade snap-out is one of the best draws in CS2, inspect can be spammed and looped like Butterfly)
  • Cases: Spectrum Case, Spectrum 2 Case, Operation Hydra Case
  • Best for: Animation enjoyers who can’t afford Butterfly, switchblade aesthetic fans
  • Pros: Butterfly-like feel at much lower price, satisfying mechanical click, loopable inspect
  • Cons: Higher entry than older operation knives, narrow blade limits how some finishes look

Talon Knife (from ~1,000+ Fade FN)

The Karambit variant. Hooked blade, more aggressive curve, wider handle ring. Introduced in the Spectrum Case alongside Stiletto.

And it’s one of the best value picks in CS2 right now. Talon is noticeably cheaper than Karambit across the board, so at any given budget you can afford a much better finish on Talon than on Karambit. Quick example: the price of a Karambit Vanilla (~$1,070) gets you a Talon Doppler in a top phase. Far more striking finish, same hooked silhouette idea.

Plus the Talon inspect can be spun endlessly – Karambit’s current inspect is broken/nerfed, so Talon’s spammable spin works the way old-school Karambit spinning used to. Choosing between Karambit and Talon in 2026? Talon is the smarter pick for both flex and value.

  • Vanilla price: ~304392
  • Top finishes: Fade (1,0001,500), Doppler (7001,500 regular phases, premium much higher), Crimson Web (8001,200), Marble Fade (7001,100), Case Hardened (500900), Tiger Tooth (600900), Slaughter (500800)
  • Animation rating: Tier-S Tier (Karambit-style spin with more aggressive grip, fully loopable inspect)
  • Cases: Spectrum Case, Spectrum 2 Case, Operation Hydra Case, Operation Riptide Case
  • Best for: Players who want Karambit aesthetic but with a working inspect, value-conscious flex pickers
  • Pros: Better-than-Karambit inspect right now, noticeably cheaper, you can afford much better finishes at the same budget, more aggressive look, growing demand
  • Cons: Sometimes called “discount Karambit” by purists, slightly less status than the original

Ursus Knife (from ~400+ Fade FN)

Fixed-blade hunting design. Released in the Spectrum Case alongside Stiletto and Talon.

  • Vanilla price: ~180280
  • Top finishes: Fade (400700), Doppler (400800 regular phases), Crimson Web (400700), Marble Fade (350600), Case Hardened (300500), Tiger Tooth (350550), Slaughter (300500)
  • Animation rating: Tier-C Tier (solid but not standout – feels closer to Bowie in inspect speed)
  • Cases: Spectrum Case, Spectrum 2 Case, Operation Hydra Case
  • Best for: Hunting-knife aesthetic fans, players who want something rare in their loadout
  • Pros: Lower demand means slightly cheaper than Talon/Stiletto, rugged fixed-blade looks
  • Cons: Overshadowed by case-mates (Talon and Stiletto), unremarkable animation

Navaja Knife (from ~130+ Fade FN)

A folding pocket knife – small, compact, and the cheapest knife in CS2 in many finishes. Introduced in Spectrum Case (March 2017).

  • Vanilla price: ~4460 (the cheapest knife Vanilla in CS2)
  • Top finishes: Fade (130220), Doppler (120300 regular phases), Crimson Web (150250), Marble Fade (120200), Case Hardened (80160), Tiger Tooth (120200), Slaughter (90160), Rust Coat ($42+ absolute cheapest)
  • Animation rating: Tier-C Tier (quick flip-open but small blade lacks impact)
  • Cases: Spectrum Case, Spectrum 2 Case, Operation Hydra Case
  • Best for: Cheapest entry into modern-era knives, budget pickups, players who want a small loadout footprint
  • Pros: Cheapest modern knife, decent animation, compact looks clean in inspect
  • Cons: Small blade looks underwhelming with most finishes, low prestige

Classic Knife (from ~250+ Fade FN)

A remake of the CS 1.6 knife. Introduced in the CS20 Case (October 2019) to celebrate 20 years of Counter-Strike.

The draw and inspect are actually decent – very similar to M9 Bayonet (makes sense given the similar military silhouette). There’s even a unique idle animation and more than one inspect variation. But despite all that, the Classic gets old fast – it lacks a real signature “thing”, a hook or trick that keeps you coming back. The bigger issue is the small number of available finishes (only 13, all from CS20 Case). Same problem as Kukri – the limited finish pool kills long-term appeal.

  • Vanilla price: ~130200
  • Top finishes: Fade (250400), Doppler (180400 regular phases), Crimson Web (250400), Marble Fade (180300), Case Hardened (150280), Tiger Tooth (150250), Slaughter (120220)
  • Animation rating: Tier-B Tier (decent draw and inspect, unique idle and multiple variations, but gets repetitive fast)
  • Cases: CS20 Case (only source – heavily limits available finishes)
  • Best for: CS 1.6 veterans, nostalgia collectors, players who want something different from modern shapes
  • Pros: Only source of Classic Knife, deep nostalgia appeal, decent draw and inspect, multiple animation variations
  • Cons: Gets old quickly despite variations, limited finish pool, retro design isn’t for everyone

The Shattered Web Era (2019-2020)

Four new knife shapes introduced through Operation Shattered Web (November 2019) and carried into later cases.

Skeleton Knife (from ~700+ Fade FN)

The Skeleton Knife has a uniquely transparent handle with the blade structure visible through skeletal cutouts. Premium Shattered Web shape.

The thing about Skeleton: it could easily be Tier-S Tier if its special draw animation triggered every time. The inspect animation is great – fluid spinning movement, and there’s even a rare extended inspect where the character spins the knife on their finger through the handle ring for as long as you hold the inspect key.

But the pull-out (draw) animation is the problem. Roughly 4 out of 5 draws, you get a standard, unremarkable pull-out – the same kind you’d see on a Paracord, Ursus, or Survival. Only about 1 in 5 draws plays the special twirl draw that makes the knife feel premium. Paracord, Ursus, and Survival have the same rare-draw issue, but those knives are cheap – Skeleton being $245+ Vanilla makes the bad-draw lottery actually painful.

  • Vanilla price: ~245320
  • Top finishes: Fade (7001,200), Doppler (6001,200 regular phases), Crimson Web (6001,000), Marble Fade (500900), Case Hardened (400800), Tiger Tooth (500800), Slaughter (400700)
  • Animation rating: Tier-A Tier (inspect is Tier-S -tier – smooth spin + rare finger-twirl – but standard draw is mediocre and only ~1 in 5 triggers the special pull-out)
  • Cases: Shattered Web Case, Fracture Case, Operation Riptide Case, Fever Case, Dreams & Nightmares
  • Best for: Players who want a modern flex without paying Butterfly prices, unique aesthetic fans
  • Pros: Most striking design of Shattered Web knives, excellent inspect, growing demand, available in multiple cases including active-pool Dreams & Nightmares
  • Cons: Standard draw is forgettable (same as Paracord/Ursus/Survival, but Skeleton costs much more), expensive Vanilla for a Shattered Web knife

Nomad Knife (from ~500+ Fade FN)

Survival-style design with a textured handle and aggressive blade profile. Introduced in Shattered Web.

I personally love folding/snap-out knives over fixed-blade ones, and Nomad is one of the best in that category outside the Tier-S tier. The draw animation is excellent – there’s a stylish click sound when it unfolds (added relatively recently in CS2 updates) that really makes drawing the knife feel satisfying. The handle looks great on practically every finish – Nomad has one of the best handle designs in the entire knife lineup.

Prices are also democratic – you can get a beautiful Nomad with a better finish for less than a Vanilla Stiletto. The one downside: the inspect itself is fairly boring – the draw is the highlight, not what you do afterward.

  • Vanilla price: ~230350
  • Top finishes: Fade (500800), Doppler (400800 regular phases), Crimson Web (400700), Marble Fade (380600), Case Hardened (300500), Tiger Tooth (350550), Slaughter (300500)
  • Animation rating: Tier-A Tier (excellent draw with satisfying unfold click, but inspect is unremarkable)
  • Cases: Shattered Web Case, Fracture Case, Operation Riptide Case, Fever Case, Dreams & Nightmares
  • Best for: Players who love folding/snap-out knives, mid-budget collectors, anyone who values draw animations over inspect spam
  • Pros: Excellent draw with stylish click, beautiful handle design, democratic pricing, available in active drop pool
  • Cons: Boring inspect – the highlight is the draw, not what you do after

Paracord Knife (from ~400+ Fade FN)

Wrapped paracord-style handle, fixed blade. Pure survival aesthetic.

  • Vanilla price: ~150240
  • Top finishes: Fade (400700), Doppler (350700 regular phases), Crimson Web (400600), Marble Fade (380550), Case Hardened (300500), Tiger Tooth (350500), Slaughter (300450), Scorched ($52+ cheapest entry)
  • Animation rating: Tier-C Tier (clean but unremarkable)
  • Cases: Shattered Web Case, Fracture Case, Operation Riptide Case, Fever Case, Dreams & Nightmares
  • Best for: Outdoor/survival aesthetic fans, budget Shattered Web pickups
  • Pros: Affordable Vanilla, paracord handle texture looks clean in close-up
  • Cons: Generic blade shape, low prestige

Survival Knife (from ~350+ Fade FN)

The cheapest Shattered Web era shape. Heavy, utilitarian, with a serrated spine.

  • Vanilla price: ~130200
  • Top finishes: Fade (350600), Doppler (300600 regular phases), Crimson Web (350600), Marble Fade (300500), Case Hardened (280450), Tiger Tooth (300450), Slaughter (250400), Night Stripe ($56+ entry)
  • Animation rating: Tier-C Tier (heavy feel, serrated detail visible on inspect)
  • Cases: Shattered Web Case, Fracture Case, Operation Riptide Case, Fever Case, Dreams & Nightmares
  • Best for: Cheapest Shattered Web pickup, utilitarian aesthetic
  • Pros: Cheapest of the four Shattered Web knives, serrated spine adds visual interest
  • Cons: Big and clunky in-hand, low community demand

The CS2 Era (2024+)

One brand new knife shape – the first added since Shattered Web.

Kukri Knife (from ~400+ Fade FN)

The Kukri is the first knife model introduced specifically for Counter-Strike 2, debuting in the Kilowatt Case (February 2024). Inspired by the traditional Nepalese kukri, it has a forward-angled blade with a distinctive belly curve.

Solid, dynamic for the money – the draw and inspect are both fairly snappy, and the price is reasonable for a modern CS2-native knife. The main downside? It’s just too big. The model takes up a noticeable chunk of the screen (especially in lower FOV setups) and can actually block your view in certain situations.

The other limitation is the small finish pool – same issue as Classic Knife: only available in Kilowatt and Gallery cases, so not many finishes to choose from.

  • Vanilla price: ~104215 (depends heavily on marketplace)
  • Top finishes: Fade (400600), Doppler (350594 regular phases), Crimson Web (250400), Marble Fade (300500), Case Hardened (250400), Tiger Tooth (300450), Slaughter (250400)
  • Animation rating: Tier-B Tier (solid dynamic feel for the price, both draw and inspect are snappy, but the oversized model is a drawback)
  • Cases: Kilowatt Case (active drop pool!), Gallery Case
  • Best for: Players who want the newest CS2 knife, Kilowatt openers, modern collectors who like forward-curved blades
  • Pros: Solid dynamic knife for the price, first CS2-native model, available in active drop pool, distinctive forward-curve silhouette
  • Cons: Model is too big – can block view in lower FOV, limited finish pool (only Kilowatt and Gallery)

CS2 Knife Animations Tier List

CS2 knife animations tier list – S Tier Butterfly Knife, Stiletto Knife, Talon Knife – A Tier Karambit, Skeleton Knife, Nomad Knife – B Tier M9 Bayonet, Flip Knife, Classic Knife, Kukri Knife, Bayonet – C Tier Gut Knife, Huntsman Knife, Bowie Knife, Shadow Daggers, Ursus Knife, Navaja Knife, Paracord Knife, Survival Knife, Falchion Knife – Counter-Strike 2

icon Animations matter. The inspect is what other players see, what you stare at in matches, and what makes a knife feel premium. Here’s the animation-only ranking for all 19 knife types, based on current CS2 animation state (not legacy CS:GO behavior).

S Tier (Best Animations – Spammable & Loopable):

  • Butterfly Knife – balisong flip unmatched, most varied inspect set, never gets old.
  • Stiletto Knife – switchblade snap-out is smooth, inspect can be spammed and looped like Butterfly.
  • Talon Knife – Karambit-style spin that’s fully spammable (unlike current Karambit, which is nerfed).

A Tier (Strong Animations):

  • Karambit – currently nerfed in CS2. Hooked twirl is still recognizable, but can’t be looped like it used to. Historically Tier-S , currently Tier-A .
  • Skeleton Knife – inspect is Tier-S -tier (fluid spin + rare finger-twirl), but only ~1 in 5 draws plays the special pull-out.
  • Nomad Knife – excellent draw with stylish unfold click, inspect itself is just OK.

B Tier (Decent Draw, Boring Inspect):

M9 Bayonet, Flip Knife, Classic Knife, Kukri Knife, Bayonet

C Tier (Functional, Good as First Knives):

Gut Knife, Huntsman Knife, Bowie Knife, Shadow Daggers, Ursus Knife, Navaja Knife, Paracord Knife, Survival Knife, Falchion Knife

If animation is your top priority, the choice is clear: Butterfly, Stiletto, or Talon. Karambit used to be in this group but currently isn’t because of the nerfed inspect – that’s our biggest takeaway from this tier list for 2026.

Doppler Phases Quick Guide

Doppler phases quick guide – Phase 1, Phase 2, Phase 3, Phase 4, Ruby, Sapphire, Black Pearl – CS2 knife finishes with drop rates and price rankings – Counter-Strike 2

Doppler is one of the most coveted finishes in CS2 – a galaxy-like pattern with swirling colors. But not all Dopplers are equal. The exact pattern index determines the phase, and the phase dramatically affects the price.

7 Doppler phases total:

  • Phase 1 – Black base with pink and red. Aggressive, popular for Karambit and Butterfly.
  • Phase 2 – Black base with pink and blue. Sometimes called “the cleanest Doppler.” Highly coveted.
  • Phase 3 – Black base with green and purple. Less popular, cheaper than Phases 1/2/4.
  • Phase 4 – Black base with pink and red (similar to Phase 1 but pinker). Often the cheapest of the four.
  • Ruby – Deep red pattern, no black base. Rare and expensive – often 3-5x the price of Phase 2.
  • Sapphire – Deep blue pattern, no black base. Rarer than Ruby, often 5-8x the price of Phase 2.
  • Black Pearl (BP) – Black base with a single iridescent pearl spot. The rarest Doppler – often 10x+ the price of Phase 2.

Approximate drop rates (community data):

  • Phases 1-4: about 25-29% each (93% combined)
  • Ruby/Sapphire/BP: about 2-3% each (7% combined)

Which Doppler to buy?

  • For pure flex: Black Pearl (most expensive, rarest), Sapphire, Ruby.
  • For best looks at reasonable price: Phase 2 (black + pink/blue, clean).
  • For budget: Phase 4 or Phase 3 – usually the cheapest standard phases.

Gamma Doppler – same concept but with green/teal/emerald colors. Available on most knives from Gamma 1/2 and Dreams & Nightmares cases. Emerald is the rare, expensive equivalent of Ruby/Sapphire.

CS2 Knife Patterns & Blue Gems

CS2 knife patterns and Blue Gem guide – Case Hardened Blue Gem patterns by tier, pattern index vs float, Fade percentage tiers, Crimson Web web count, Marble Fade Fire & Ice max red tiers, Doppler phases – Counter-Strike 2

icon The pattern index is a random number from 1 to 999 assigned at drop. For most finishes (Slaughter, Fade, Crimson Web, etc.) the pattern only slightly changes how the design lays on the blade. But for Case Hardened, the pattern is everything.

Case Hardened Blue Gem – heat-treated steel with random patches of blue, gold, silver, and purple. A knife with mostly blue on the playing side (the side shown in inspect) is called a Blue Gem.

Top Blue Gem patterns by knife type:

  • Karambit Pattern 387 – the most famous knife pattern in CS2 history. 4-sided full blue, sometimes called the “1st Max Karambit“. Best examples have sold for $1.5M+.
  • Karambit Pattern 896 – another top-tier full blue Karambit.
  • M9 Bayonet Pattern 661 – top M9 Blue Gem, ~95% blue playing side.
  • Butterfly Pattern 555 or 387 – extremely rare, trade for 50K−200K+.

Other pattern-sensitive finishes:

  • Crimson Web – pattern controls how many “web” spider designs appear. Tri-Web (3 webs visible) is most coveted, can be 10x normal price.
  • Fade – pattern controls percentage of pink-to-yellow gradient. 100% Fade is maximum, 90% Fade is also premium.
  • Marble Fade – pattern controls color blending. Fire & Ice (red and blue dominant) is most desired.
  • Doppler – pattern controls phase (covered above).

Where to check patterns: Use sites like CSFloat, CSGOFloat, or third-party pattern databases. Float and pattern data is publicly available for every CS2 skin via Steam’s inspect link.

CS2 Knife Trade-Up Paths

CS2 knife trade-up paths guide – 5 Covert skins to 1 knife or glove – float formula, cheapest collections Fracture Case, Kilowatt Case, Gamma Case, Dreams and Nightmares – high-risk high-reward strategies

The trade-up contract lets you combine 10 Covert-rarity skins from the same collection to get one random Rare Special Item (knife or gloves) from that collection. Not random odds – you’re guaranteed a knife/glove, but the specific knife is random.

How trade-ups work:

  • 10 Covert skins, all from same collection.
  • Output float = average of input floats (lower inputs = lower output).
  • StatTrak = all 10 inputs StatTrak → output StatTrak.
  • Cost depends entirely on the case.

Cheapest trade-up paths in 2026:

  • Fracture Case – Covert skins: Desert Eagle Printstream, AK-47 Legion of Anubis (~30−100each). 300-$1,000. Output: Skeleton, Nomad, Paracord, Survival in Shattered Web finishes. Best cheap path for Shattered Web knives.
  • Operation Riptide Case – Coverts: AK-47 Leet Museo, Desert Eagle Ocean Drive (~70−200each). 700-$2,000. Output: Talon, Skeleton, Survival, Paracord, Nomad.
  • Chroma 3 Case – Coverts: M4A1-S Chantico’s Fire, PP-Bizon Judgement of Anubis (~100−300each). 1,000-$3,000. Output: any of 10 knife models in Chroma finishes.
  • Kilowatt Case – Coverts: AK-47 Inheritance, AWP Chrome Cannon (~80−150each). 800-$1,500. Output: Kukri Knife (any finish).

Best overall value: Fracture Case trade-ups – cheap Coverts, decent knife pool.

For OG 5 knives (Karambit, M9, etc.) – you need pre-Chroma collections (Operation Bravo, CS:GO Weapon Case 3, etc.), which means expensive Covert inputs (2002,500 each) but premium knife outputs.

Reality check: Trade-ups don’t guarantee profit. On average, the output knife will be worth less than the 10 inputs. You’re trading 10 Coverts for a chance at a more valuable knife – but the average outcome is a loss. Buy directly if you want a specific knife.

Cheapest CS2 Knives in 2026

The absolute cheapest CS2 knife in 2026 is the Navaja Knife Rust Coat Battle-Scarred at around $42. Note that all these knives are from discontinued cases, so prices tend to drift upward over time.

Most Expensive CS2 Knives in 2026

Most expensive CS2 knives in 2026 – Karambit Case Hardened Blue Gem Pattern 387 over 1 million dollars, Butterfly Knife Case Hardened Blue Gem 30K to 100K dollars, Karambit Doppler Black Pearl 9K to 12K dollars, M9 Bayonet Doppler Sapphire 6K to 10K dollars, Karambit Doppler Ruby 7K to 10K dollars, Karambit Marble Fade Fire and Ice 4K to 8K dollars, Karambit Crimson Web Factory New 6,560 dollars, StatTrak Karambit Crimson Web 33K to 50K dollars – Counter-Strike 2

icon The most expensive knives are pattern-dependent, not finish-dependent. Top trades and approximate market floors (May 2026):

  • Karambit Case Hardened Pattern 387 (Factory New, “1st Max”) – the holy grail. Top recorded sales of premium Blue Gem patterns have crossed 1M+, with the absolute best examples going for 1.5M+ in private trades.
  • Butterfly Knife Case Hardened Blue Gem (top patterns) – 30K100K+ depending on pattern.
  • Karambit Doppler Black Pearl (Factory New) – around 9K12K market floor, 10K20K for low-float examples.
  • M9 Bayonet Doppler Sapphire (Factory New) – around 6K10K.
  • Karambit Doppler Ruby/Sapphire (Factory New) – around 7K10K each.
  • Karambit Marble Fade Fire & Ice (FFI) – top pattern variants run 4K8K.
  • Karambit Crimson Web (Factory New) – 33K-50K StatTrak FN with premium low−float patterns. 555. Honestly, paying StatTrak FN premium for a Crimson Web is borderline insane when you can get a Doppler Black Pearl or Marble Fade Fire & Ice in the same range.
  • Butterfly Knife Crimson Web (Factory New) – 16K+ for low-float top patterns, 19K+ StatTrak FN. Battle−Scarred starts around 585.
  • Karambit Fade (Factory New) – regular FN around 2,1002,200, 100% Fade pattern around 3,0004,000.
  • StatTrak Karambit Fade (Factory New) – regular FN around 1,5002,100, 100% Fade pattern 3K5K.

These are top-end collector pieces. A regular Karambit Fade Factory New with no special pattern is around 2,1002,200. The price jumps happen at exact patterns (Blue Gem, Fire & Ice, 100% Fade) and float thresholds. Always verify pattern index and float before paying premium prices.

Where to Buy CS2 Knives

Where to buy CS2 knives – Steam Community Market, CSFloat, Skinport, BUFF163, DMarket, trading – safest and cheapest options for 2026

Three main places:

1. Steam Community Market – safest place. Prices transparent, transactions instant. Steam takes a 15% fee, and money stays in your Steam wallet (no cashing out to real money).

2. Third-party marketplaces (CSFloat, Skinport, BUFF163) – usually lower prices (avoid the Steam fee), real-money payouts, better filtering tools for float and patterns. Stick to well-known sites with good reviews – scams exist.

3. Trading – swap inventory items directly with other players via Steam trades or trade-focused marketplaces. Best for converting unused inventory into a knife without spending fresh money.

For high-value knives ($1,000+), pattern databases and float-checking tools are essential. Always verify pattern index and float before purchase, and use trusted middlemen for large trades.

Final Thoughts About CS2 Knives

CS2 knives conclusion – Butterfly Knife best animations, Karambit classic status, Stiletto and Talon best value, Navaja cheapest at 42 dollars, Doppler and Blue Gem patterns drive collector prices – Counter-Strike 2 knife guide 2026

A CS2 knife is the most personal piece of your loadout. With 19 models, hundreds of finishes, and pattern variants on top, picking the right one matters more than you think.

  • Butterfly wins on animations and flex factor – period.
  • Karambit is still the eternal classic, even with the nerfed inspect.
  • Stiletto and Talon are the smartest modern picks if you want top-tier feel without Butterfly money.
  • If you’re entering the knife club on a small budget, a Navaja Rust Coat Battle-Scarred at 42 is the cheapest knife on the market. 44-80 100.

Hunting premium finishes? The Doppler family (especially Phase 2, Ruby, Sapphire, Black Pearl) and Case Hardened Blue Gems are where serious collector money goes. For animations, nothing touches Butterfly. For long-term holds, Karambits and M9 Bayonets have decades of demand history behind them.

Whether you go for a $44 Navaja or chase a seven-figure Blue Gem Karambit, the right CS2 knife is the one that makes you smile every time you inspect it. Buy from Steam Market for safety, or third-party sites like CSFloat for better prices. For high-value purchases, always verify pattern and float before you click buy.
