Eversong Woods is the best starting zone for gathering in Midnight. It’s where you learn the profession, level up your skills, and establish the farming habits that will carry you through the entire expansion. The zone’s gentle terrain, manageable mob density, and reliable node distribution make it the perfect training ground for any gatherer.
Here’s everything you need to maximize your gold per hour in Eversong Woods:
Eversong Woods has the most forgiving terrain. Unlike Voidstorm‘s steep ledges or Harandar‘s pocket-heavy layout, Eversong Woods offers open, flat terrain with clear sightlines. You can spot nodes from a distance and plan your route without unexpected obstacles.
Lightfused nodes drop Motes of Light. These motes are used in high-end crafting recipes and maintain stable prices throughout the season. Lightfused nodes in Eversong Woods are the primary source of this valuable material.
The zone is accessible immediately. You’ll be sent to Silvermoon City early in the campaign, and the surrounding Eversong Woods is designed for players who aren’t max level yet. You can start farming from day one.
The numbers are solid. A well-optimized dual gathering route in Eversong Woods yields 70,000–85,000 gold per hour. The zone’s low competition and reliable spawns make it ideal for both new and experienced gatherers.
All ore and herbs can be found in all zones now. Midnight removed zone-specific ore and herbs — you can gather any material in any zone. This means Eversong Woods gives you access to the full material pool without needing to travel.
Herbalism + Mining — The Optimal Combination
Pick both.Herbalism and Mining together give you maximum node coverage. You’ll never fly past a valuable node because you have the wrong profession.
All herbs can be gathered in all zones now. You’ll find the same herb types everywhere, so Eversong Woods‘ accessibility makes it the most convenient farming spot.
Sell everything immediately. Hoarding is a trap. Prices drop fast as supply catches up. The gold you make in week one is worth more than the materials you hold onto.
Specialization Builds for Eversong Woods Farming
Your specialization choices determine your efficiency. Prioritize talents that let you gather while mounted and increase resource yield.
MountedMining is your first priority. Without it, you’ll waste time dismounting and remounting for every node. Mining with Meticulous Mining is also significantly faster, meaning more nodes per hour. Avoid Seams. They appear too rarely to justify investing points.
Only two ranks of ore and herbs exist now. Bronze quality is gone entirely. You’ll only find Silver and Gold quality, which simplifies your inventory management.
Epic profession equipment is available. Epic gear gives the same primary skill bonus as Blue gear but has more secondary stats. Blue gear can be bought and sold on the Auction House. Epic gear is Bind on Pickup and must be ordered through the work order system. None of these crafts require Moxie.
Customizing stats: Accessory stats are fixed. Tool stats can be customized with missives. Blue items are BoE — check the Auction House or place a Crafting Order.
For Eversong Woods dual gathering: Finesseis your top priority. Extra materials mean more gold from every node. The zone’s high node density means you’ll gather hundreds of nodes per session — Finesse pays off the most over time.
Sky Golem no longer works on Midnight herb nodes. You’ll need to rely on your specialization and mount speed instead.
Lightfused Nodes — The Signature of Eversong Woods
Lightfused nodes are the primary infused node type in Eversong Woods. They drop Motes of Light and have a unique light orb mechanic.
Mining Lightfused nodes:

How to maximize Lightfused nodes: Lightfused nodes are the easiest infused nodes to farm. They don’t spawn combat mobs or apply damaging debuffs. The orb-catching mechanic is quick and doesn’t interrupt your farming flow. Overload Lightfused nodes is almost always worth it — the extra Motes of Light are valuable and the mechanic is fast.
Overloading in Eversong Woods
How to learn Overload: Mine or herb your first Infused Deposit to learn the Overload ability. It appears in your General tab, not your profession spellbook.
Cooldown: 12 hours, reduced by 30 minutes per normal node mined or herb gathered. Roughly 24 nodes to fully reset.
Lightfused Overload: Spawns a large amount of light-orbs in the air. Catch them before they hit the ground for extra Motes of Light.
When to use Overload: Use it when you see a Lightfused node. The mechanic is quick and the extra motes are valuable. It’s one of the safest and most rewarding overloads in Midnight.
Farming Routes — Eversong Woods
Eversong Woods rewards circular routes that keep you moving through high-density areas. The zone’s open terrain makes route planning straightforward.
Route Principles
Principle
Why It Works
Stick to rivers
A lot of herb nodes spawn along rivers, and you’ll also find additional Rich Soil to use seeds in for more herbs
Stick to edges
Edges of the zone have high node density
Circular routes keep respawns active
By the time you complete the loop, nodes at the start have respawned
Balance both professions
Running mixed Herbalism and Mining routes provides better resource coverage
Herbalism Routes
Route A: River Run Loop
Step
Action
1
Follow the rivers through the zone
2
Herb nodes cluster along water lines
3
Watch for Rich Soil patches
4
Complete the loop and repeat
Why it works: Herbs naturally spawn near water. Rivers provide clear navigation lines and consistent node density.
When to use: Your default herb farming route.
Route B: Village-to-Village Circular Route
Step
Action
1
Travel through Fairbreeze Village
2
Head to Goldenmist Village
3
Pass through Tranquillien
4
Loop through Windrunner Spire
5
Return to the start
Why it works: The circular route keeps respawns active while minimizing downtime. Villages are natural landmarks that prevent you from getting lost.
When to use: Long sessions where you want a stable rhythm.
Route C: Edge Loop
Step
Action
1
Stick to the edges of the zone
2
Avoid the center unless you see clusters
3
Be wary of the Alliance camp in the south-west corner (if you’re Horde)
4
Complete the loop and repeat
Why it works: Edges are consistently underfarmed. Node density is still high.
When to use: Peak hours when central routes are crowded.
Mining Routes
Route A: Edge Loop (Mining Focus)
Step
Action
1
Stick to the edges of the zone
2
Look for rock formations and cliff bases
3
Avoid the Alliance camp in the south-west corner
4
Complete the loop and repeat
Why it works: Ore nodes favor rock seams and cliff edges. Edges are underfarmed.
Why it works: The circular route keeps respawns active while minimizing downtime. Villages are natural landmarks that prevent you from getting lost.
When to use: Long sessions where you want a stable rhythm.

Move to the next region before the area dries up
Why it works: Keeps your High Value Beast search time low.
Best for: Leveling skinning and steady raw materials.
Path B: Two-Corridor Patrol
Step
Action
1
Pick two parallel patrol lines
2
Alternate between them
3
While you run line 2, line 1 repopulates

List a portion immediately, hold a portion for peak demand
Selling What You Farm
Tip
Why
Sell in clean stack sizes
Buyers prefer simple stacks
Don’t panic undercut
Commodities move — you don’t need to win every price war
Sell at spending times
Reset days and prime-time evenings move materials fastest
Keep a small reserve
If you craft, keep enough mats to avoid buying at peak prices
Your goal is not the highest price ever. Your goal is steady turnover.
Common Gathering Mistakes
Mistake
Fix
Fighting for nodes
Reverse the loop, change altitude, or change zone
Overloading everything
Overload only when it’s faster than skipping
Running a tight loop in a crowded shard
Widen the loop and lean into edges
Turning skinning into a mob camp grind
Keep moving — skinning is a movement profession
Farming until you’re exhausted
Farm in blocks. End with a plan, not when you’re angry
Ignoring rivers
Rivers are where herbs cluster — follow them
Farming the center of the zone
Edges have better node density
