Eris Morn is one of the most intriguing characters in Destiny 2. Right now she’s deeply connected with the Hive and the Darkness and plays an important role in the game’s story. Once a Guardian, Eris survived a failed mission into the Hellmouth, where she lost her Ghost and her fireteam. It left her scarred but armed with deep knowledge of the Hive’s powers and motives.
Who is Eris Morn in Destiny 2
Eris Morn used to be a Guardian and a member of the fireteam that attempted to kill Crota. However, as I mentioned before, they failed, and after a long hard road (we’ll briefly overview her biography in the blocks of text below) she now serves as the Vanguard’s expert on Hive lore.
- The Dark Below Expansion: Players first meet Eris in the Tower, where she guides them through the mission to destroy Crota’s forces on the Moon.
- The Taken King Expansion: Eris plays a key role in defeating Oryx, working with Queen Mara Sov and Osiris.
- Shadowkeep Campaign: On the Moon, Eris finds the hidden Pyramid, and guides Guardians in the fight against the Nightmares and the looming threat of the Darkness.
- Season of the Witch: Eris undergoes a dark transformation into the Hive God of Vengeance, taking these steps to defeat Xivu Arath and protect the Last City.
Eris Morn Biography
The Hunt for Crota
Trapped deep within the Hellmouth, Eris managed to survive for years by using the dark lore she learned from Toland’s journals. Her Ghost, Brya, sacrificed itself to save her, leaving Eris without Light.
Eris had to replace her eyes with Hive ones. It changed her appearance and granted her a Hive-like vision, allowing to use their dark power to navigate the Hive tunnels.
She finally escaped and returned to the Tower, but her time in the Hellmouth left her emotionally scarred and obsessed with vengeance.
War Against Crota and Oryx
Her involvement didn’t end with Crota. When Oryx, the Taken King, Crota’s father, arrived to avenge his son, Eris allied with Queen Mara Sov and the exiled Warlock Osiris to devise a strategy. Eris played a key role in guiding Guardians during the Taken War, which ultimately led to Oryx’s defeat. Her obsession with the Hive and the Darkness continued to deepen as she saw Oryx’s death as just another step toward her ultimate goal of understanding and defeating the Hive entirely.
Return to the Moon and the Darkness
Although the Pyramid’s power tempted her, Eris resisted being fully consumed by the Darkness. Instead, she sought to harness its potential in a controlled way. This led her to align with the Exo Stranger and the Drifter, and through their guidance, Eris learned to wield Stasis, a powerful ability tied to the Darkness, as a weapon for humanity’s survival.
The Rise of Savathûn and the Witness
Eris helped to find out the truth that some Hive had gained the power of the Light, just like the Guardians. This knowledge changed how everyone understood the battle between Light and Darkness. Eris also revealed that Savathûn had a strange connection to the Traveler (which made the whole situation even more complicated and harder to understand and work with).
This character believes that understanding the Darkness might be the key to defeating it, and at that moment of her story she’s doing everything possible to fight for humanity’s survival.
Eris Morn The Hive God
During the ritual, Eris spoke the names of the Worm Gods and went through a dark transformation. Her body became covered in Hive chitin, making her look like the Hive gods she had once fought against. With the Guardians collecting power for her, Eris grew strong enough to cut off Xivu Arath’s connection to her Throne World, making the Hive God mortal. This gave the Guardians the chance to defeat Xivu Arath.
Eris’s time as a Hive God was temporary. After the battle, she returned to her normal form. However, in my opinion, this transformation demonstrated her strength and willingness to sacrifice everything—even becoming like her enemies—to ensure victory over the Hive. On the other hand, it also showed her being reckless in her pursuit of victory. This time it ended well, but like I said at the beginning, it may all end that she’ll become Sylvanas the Windrunner in Destiny 2.
Eris Morn Face
Eris Morn’s face is one of the most striking features of this character. Her appearance is marked by three glowing green eyes, which are not her original human eyes. These Hive-like eyes were the result of her time trapped in the Hellmouth.
After surviving the loss of her Ghost and the deaths of her fireteam, Eris replaced her own eyes with those of the Hive to see in the darkness of their tunnels. This change not only saved her life but also connected her to the Hive in ways that most Guardians find disturbing.
Where is Eris Morn Now
After the release of The Taken King expansion, Eris relocated to the entrance of the Hall of Guardians. Her inventory was updated, and she now sells Class Items, Ammo Synths, Summoning Runes, and Moldering Shards. She also offers a Material Exchange, trading Hadium Flakes for Crota’s Bane reputation.
Eris Morn Voice Actress
Morla Gorrondona’s work includes projects with major studios like Bungie, HBO, and Sony. She has worked on major titles like Destiny 2, Death Stranding, and God of War: Ragnarok.
This voice actress perfectly reflected the depth and mysterious nature of the Eris Morn. In my opinion, it’s just that case when voicing aligns perfectly with the game character.
